Serbia are already assured of a play off spot, but Radomir Antic’s men can automatically qualify if they either beat Romania this weekend or Lithuania in Marijampole four days later. Serbia drew with France in their last qualifier.
Nenad Milijas put Serbia ahead from the spot on 12 minutes, but Barcelona striker Thierry Henry equalised for France towards the end of the first half as the two teams had to settle for a point.
Serbia are yet to lose a game at home in qualifying. They have beaten Austria, Faroe Islands and Lithuania, and have drawn with France. Romania on the other hand, have picked up seven points out of a possible twelve on the road.
Serbia beat Romania 3-2 in Constanta when the two teams met in March. Milan Jovanovic and Branislav Ivanovicscored for Serbia in that game. Romania’s Dorel Stoica ended up scoring for both teams in the fixture.
