NorwaySouth Africa in on Saturday in an international friendly that you can watch right here at this blog – your gateway to live streaming international football on the internet.
South Africa are desperate to get as much match practise as possible before next summer’s World Cup finals which they themselves will be hosting. Because they are hosting the tournament they haven’t had to play a qualifying match, so they have to make do with friendlies.
The only thing that is wrong with this is the fact that the games are very often not competitive enough, so a so-called weaker footballing nation such as South Africa may struggle when it comes to the nitty-gritty of competitive games once the competition kicks off.
The game against Norway though on Saturday, will offer them a stern test; especially as Norway will still be smarting from not qualifying for the tournament themselves.
In their last friendly, the South Africans defeated Madagascar 1-0.For their part, although Norway managed to finish second in Group Nine of the UEFA qualifiers for the World Cup, they were still a mighty fourteen points behind group winners Holland, who finished the group with a perfect eight wins form eight games played.
