Euro 2004 champions Greece’s penultimate World Cup qualifier sees them play host to Alexsandrs Starkovs’ Latvia at the Olympic Stadium this weekend. Greece vs Latvia is a qualifier you can watch from your control panel at this blog, leaders in providing online footy streams.

Greece and Latvia are tied on points in Group 2. Both the teams have 14 points from eight games, three behind group leaders Switzerland. Greece only managed to take one point from their two qualifiers last month. They were beaten 2-0 by Switzerland, and were held to a draw by group minnows Moldova.

Defender Giourkas Seitaridis, who last featured for the national team in April, has been called up to the squad despite being low on match practice. Coach Otto Rehhagel will have to do without the services of striker Angelos Charisteas, who is Greece’s second highest scorer in qualifying after Theofanis Gekas.

Latvia drew with Switzerland in their last qualifier. They went behind to Alexander Frei’s goal, then lead 2-1 thanks to goals from Alexsandrs Cauna and Vitalijs Astafjevs, only to be denied all three points by Eren Derdiyok.

Veteran skipper Astafjevs will equal Martin Reim’s European record of 157 caps if he plays this weekend.

Israel’s last home qualifier in Group 2 sees them entertain bottom placed Moldova at the Ramat Gan Stadium this weekend. Watch Dror Kashtan’s side in action against Moldova by signing up to view live soccer qualifying with this blog.

Israel have 12 points from eight games, two behind Latvia and Greece, and five points behind Switzerland. Their hopes of qualifying are practically over, but they still have a mathematical chance. Israel lost to Latvia at home in their first September qualifier, but then hammered Luxembourg 7-0 in their second qualifier.

Coach Dror Kashtan has recalled Argentine born striker Roberto Colautti and Hapoel Tel Aviv’s Itay Shechter to the squad. Liverpool’s Yossi Benayoun will captain Israel. There is no spot for midfielder Yaniv Katan, widely acknowledged as the best Israeli player in the domestic league.

A late goal from Valeriu Andronic saw Moldova draw with Greece at home last month. The result damaged Greece’s chances of making it to South Africa next year. Moldova have only picked up three points from eight games so far, and travel to Riga to face Latvia in their final qualifier.

Serbia can book their spot at the 2010 World Cup this weekend if they beat Romania in Belgrade this weekend. Watch Serbia vs Romania live online from your control panel at this blog, leaders in soccer streaming.

Serbia are already assured of a play off spot, but Radomir Antic’s men can automatically qualify if they either beat Romania this weekend or Lithuania in Marijampole four days later. Serbia drew with France in their last qualifier.

Nenad Milijas put Serbia ahead from the spot on 12 minutes, but Barcelona striker Thierry Henry equalised for France towards the end of the first half as the two teams had to settle for a point.

Serbia are yet to lose a game at home in qualifying. They have beaten Austria, Faroe Islands and Lithuania, and have drawn with France. Romania on the other hand, have picked up seven points out of a possible twelve on the road.

Serbia beat Romania 3-2 in Constanta when the two teams met in March. Milan Jovanovic and Branislav Ivanovicscored for Serbia in that game. Romania’s Dorel Stoica ended up scoring for both teams in the fixture.

Belgium host Turkey in Brussels this weekend in what is new manager Dick Advocaat’s first game in charge of the Red Devils. Watch Belgium vs Turkey live by signing up to view soccer online with this blog.

Belgium have had a wretched qualifying campaign. Two coaches- RenĂ© Vandereycken and Franky Vercauteren have already put in their papers, and the whole medical staff also resigned after Vercauteren’s departure, claiming that the players acted too big for their boots.

Belgium picked up seven points from their first three games in qualifying, but since then, things have gone downhill. They have lost their last five games, and fell to new lows with a loss to Armenia last month in Yerevan. Dick Advocaat has promised to bring about a change, and fans in Belgium will be hoping that he can succeed where Vandereycken and Vercauteren did not.

Turkey very simply need to win both their remaining qualifiers, and hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina slip up. The Turks are in third spot with 12 points, four behind Bosnia. Fatih Terim’s men drew with the Bosnians last month in Zenica. Belozoglu Emre put them ahead in the fourth minute, but Bosnia equalised through Sejad Salihovic.

Argentina have had a torrid time during this qualifying campaign; so much so that Diego Armando Maradona appears to be relenting to public pressure and is considering his future as national team coach.

While beginning the campaign as joint favourites with Brazil, the Argentineans now find themselves languishing in fifth position while contemplating the very real possibility of not qualifying for the World Cup finals.

As things stand in the group at the moment, with the top four qualifying automatically and the fifth place team having to go through a playoff against the fourth placed team of the North, Central America and Caribbean section, Brazil lead the way with 33 points and have already qualified, Paraguay occupy second spot with 30 points, also already qualified.

NorwaySouth Africa in on Saturday in an international friendly that you can watch right here at this blog – your gateway to live streaming international football on the internet.

South Africa are desperate to get as much match practise as possible before next summer’s World Cup finals which they themselves will be hosting. Because they are hosting the tournament they haven’t had to play a qualifying match, so they have to make do with friendlies.

The only thing that is wrong with this is the fact that the games are very often not competitive enough, so a so-called weaker footballing nation such as South Africa may struggle when it comes to the nitty-gritty of competitive games once the competition kicks off.

The game against Norway though on Saturday, will offer them a stern test; especially as Norway will still be smarting from not qualifying for the tournament themselves.

In their last friendly, the South Africans defeated Madagascar 1-0.For their part, although Norway managed to finish second in Group Nine of the UEFA qualifiers for the World Cup, they were still a mighty fourteen points behind group winners Holland, who finished the group with a perfect eight wins form eight games played.

The Republic of Ireland take on the classy Italians at Croke Park in Dublin on Saturday evening, knowing that anything other than a victory will put paid to any slim hopes they have of automatic promotion to next summer’s World Cup finals in South Africa. See how the two teams get on by joining us here at oleolefootball.com and enjoying the live streaming soccer in all its glory.

Although both the Republic and Italy remain undefeated in the group so far in the eight matches played, Italy find themselves four points ahead of the Irish on twenty points with two games remaining.

Whereas the Italian s have won six and drawn two of their games, the Irish have won four but drawn the other four and it is because of this tendency to snatch draws from the jaws of victory that the Irish now find themselves in the last chance saloon in terms of automatic qualification.

Both teams managed to win last time out – Italy beating Bulgaria 2-0 at home, while the Irish enjoyed a hard fought 2-1 win over the tough at home Cyprus in Nicosia. Italy know though, that even if they lose to Ireland on Saturday they have a home game against Cyprus in their last game whereas the Irish face Montenegro, again in Dublin.

Group 4 in European qualifying for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa reaches a crucial stage on Saturday evening in Moscow, when Russia face Germany in a match than could decide which one of these two teams automatically qualifies for next year’s tournament.

See how the match pans out by joining us here at oleolefootball.com and enjoying the live stream soccer in all its glory.

As things currently stand in Group 4, Germany lead the way after eight games with 22 points while Russia sit just one point behind on 21. Germany obviously qualify with a victory, while a draw will take it down to the final game – a final game that both sides would expect to win; Germany at home to faltering Finland, while Russia play away to Azerbaijan.

Both teams have won seven games in the group proceedings so far, the only difference being in that whereas Germany have drawn the other match, Russia lost it – 2-1 to Germany in the reverse fixture last October.

So far Russia have won all their home games, scoring ten goals in the process while only conceding one, whereas the Germans have three wins and a draw in their four away games so far, scoring thirteen goals while conceding three.

The game, therefore, is set up to be a fascinating battle which could turn into a battle of wits between the two managers, but Russia will have the slight advantage of playing on their artificial surface.

Group 6 of UEFA’sWorld Cup qualifying segment continues on Saturday evening, when already qualified England travel to Dnepropetrovsk in the Ukraine for a game that is much more important to the host who still harbour ambitions of qualifying through the play-offs.

Fabio Capello’s England team travel to the Ukraine on Saturday with a thus far perfect record in their group six encounters up until this stage. They have played eight and won eight and have accrued the maximum 24 points available while scoring 31 goals and only conceding five.

The 31 scored is the most number of goals any team have managed to score in all nine European qualification groups and the England players can rightly be proud of their achievements so far.

Although they would prefer to finish the group with a perfect record, Fabio Capello may consider the last two games ideal opportunities to try out some fringe squad members

Portugal and Hungary battle it out in Portugal on Saturday evening with both teams knowing that it will take a mathematical miracle for them to automatically qualify for next summer’s World Cup finals in South Africa.

Nevertheless, qualification via the play-off route may still be an option so both teams will be going all out for the victory and you can see how they get on by joining us here at this blog – the place to be for live stream football at its very best.

Out of the two teams, Portugal will be the most disappointed about how qualification has panned out for them. They began as group favourites but now find themselves floundering behind both group leaders Denmark and second placed Sweden.

As things stand at the moment with two games left to play, Denmark lead the way with eighteen points, Sweden follow with fifteen points (Denmark and Sweden clash on the same evening as Portugal and Hungary) and Portugal and Hungary both follow up on thirteen points apiece.

From their eight games played so far, Portugal have only managed to secure three victories. Although only losing one game in the process, it’s the four draws they were held to that has caused the damage as far as their qualification hopes are concerned.

Last time out they travelled to Budapest to face Hungary knowing that anything other than a victory would have mathematically put paid to their automatic qualification hopes, but they did manage to secure the victory by 1-0.
